1. Service Agreement
By commissioning web design, hosting, or consultancy services from VCS Websites Ltd (DUNS: 221018731), you agree to be bound by the terms outlined below. Proposals are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
2. Web Development & Approvals
We work closely with clients through the design process. A "design approval" is requested prior to initiating development. Upon approval, any subsequent design changes that deviate significantly from the agreed proposal may be subject to additional fees at our standard consulting rates.
We build websites to meet the guidelines specified in the proposal. For Parish Councils, websites are guaranteed to comply with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA accessibility requirements at the time of final handover.
3. Hosting & Email Support
Our hosting services are billed annually in advance. We maintain secure UK-based servers with a target uptime of 99.9%. While we perform automated daily backups, clients are responsible for maintaining copies of all uploaded data. In the event of non-payment of hosting fees, we reserve the right to temporarily suspend hosting and associated email systems after giving a 14-day notice.
4. Intellectual Property
Upon final payment, full copyright and ownership of the custom website content, layout, design, and graphics are transferred to the client. Software code utilizing open-source libraries (e.g. Drupal modules and core files) remains governed by their respective licenses (e.g. GNU General Public License).
5. Limitation of Liability
VCS Websites Ltd will make every effort to ensure the security, speed, and accuracy of developed sites. However, we cannot be held liable for any loss of business, revenue, or data resulting from server down-time, software bugs, security breaches, or search engine ranking changes.
